We loved the location as staying new Times Square was not something on our list of 'must haves'. I have travelled to New York a few times in the past and wanted my family (their first time visit) to experience something more than the usual tourist traps. We were 2 adults and a 13 year old. We stayed in there queen room with daybed and that was plenty enough for us. We were out all day everyday, so all we needed were comfy beds. Despite some reviews we found our stay quiet, apart from our first night, which was a saturday, so expected there to be a level of noise from people enjoying their weekend! This wasn't from inside the hotel though. We didn't hear anything from the inside! Our 13 year old found the hotel very cool, which is obviously important to a teenager! We used the metro every day, there were 2 stations within easy walking distance. We found it easy using google maps and then once we got our head around it we were off. We felt safe at all times walking around the hotel, early morning and late at night. Just be street smart as you would in any big city. We used our $30 resort fee to have breakfast from their cafe every morning. The hotel held our cases for us when we arrived and also the day we left. We plan to go back, but stay at the Chelsea Moxy next time, just so we can spend time in that area. Now we know they exist we will also consciously choose a Moxy in other countries.

Considering the price and the general standard of hotels in NYC, we were really blown away by this hotel. Firstly, the location is phenomenal: 5 minutes walking distance to Union Square, 15 minutes walking distance to Washington Square Park and also close to many cool spots in the East Village. While the queen rooms are fairly small, they are set up in a very smart way, and the many hooks and hidden storage spots meant that we were able to organize our things nicely. The shower in comparison was quite spacious and had good water pressure. I was also pleasantly surprised by how quiet the rooms were - we could not hear any sirens or traffic noises when we went to bed so we slept very well (jet lag aside). Lastly, I’d like to point out that the staff was very accommodating, providing extra duvets and towels when we needed them. We had a misunderstanding with the destination fee and they have been very gracious about it. The price of the room includes a Destination Fee that gives you a daily 30 usd voucher for both the hotel café/bar and the laundry services. Personally, we found these vouchers extremely helpful and we were happy to be able to get our first morning coffee at the hotel before going out to explore the city.

Great little spot near a lot of local hangouts in the East Village. 2 subway stations w/in easy walking distance, easy to get anywhere on the island. A few blocks away great shopping for Asian beauty and food products along with amazing soup dumplings and places that stayed open to 2 or 3 am, as well as lots of other types of food and shopping. Be sure to plan to take advantage of the 'freebies' they give in return for the $30 resort fee - access to the pretty rooftop bar and its $1 tacos, breakfast, dry cleaning, fitness center. Safe area, no worries walking around, nice to be in a place that felt like a local neighborhood rather than all commercial and tourists. Very on par with what you can expect with Moxy in terms of vibe, style, size of room, etc.. Cool, trippy elevator.

Great location with proximity to NYU. Great value for a double room in NYC and we had a spacious bathroom! Four of us in the room felt cozy but not crowded. The bar and lounge area in the hotel is amazing - tons of seating, skeeball machine, and cool vibe! Closest Metro station is Astor Place, right in front of a Wegman's. 8 St NYU station is a 10-15 minute walk.

Nice, trendy hotel in a great location near Union Square and convenient subway stops. The common areas including the bar and first floor hang-out spaces were great. There was a small outdoor space off the bar. They had a restaurant and rooftop bar next door as well. Rooms were nicely decorated and bed was comfortable.
